About German Bites
Welcome to German Bites
My name is Mia Weber. I grew up in a small town in Bavaria, where Sunday mornings meant one thing: the smell of frischer Hefezopf drifting through the house before anyone even opened their eyes.
Food was the language my family spoke. My Oma never used a recipe card — everything was in her hands, in her instincts, in decades of standing at the same cast iron stove. When I left home at 22, I thought I had absorbed all of it by osmosis. I had not.
My first attempt at Sauerbraten was a disaster. My Käsekuchen cracked down the middle. My bread was dense as a brick. I called Oma every Sunday in a panic, scribbling notes on whatever paper I could find.
Those scribbled notes became German Bites.
What Is German Bites?
