Preparation
  1. Heat the grill or pan over medium heat until hot.
Cooking
  1. Place the bratwursts in the grill or pan and cook for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown.
  2. Listen for the sizzle and watch for juices bubbling to know when they are done.
Warm the Rolls
  1. Wrap the bread rolls in aluminum foil and place them on a cooler part of the grill or in a low preheated oven.
Assembly
  1. Slice each roll open halfway to securely hold the bratwurst.
  2. Insert a bratwurst into each roll, add Dijon or German mustard, and top with sauerkraut or fried onions if desired.

Notes
