Ingredients

For the crust
  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour essential for structure
  • 0.75 cups cocoa powder for deep, rich chocolate flavor
  • 1 cup granulated sugar sweetens the cake and balances the flavors
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter adds rich moisture
  • 2 large eggs helps bind the mixture and provide structure
For the cheesecake filling
  • 16 oz cream cheese the key ingredient for the cheesecake layer
  • 1 cup powdered sugar sweetens the cheesecake without graininess
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract enhances the flavor profile
  • 2 large eggs for the cheesecake filling

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, and granulated sugar.
  2. Melt the butter and mix it into the dry ingredients until crumbly.
  3. Incorporate 2 of the eggs into the mixture until it forms a smooth dough.
  4. Press the dough into the bottom of a greased springform pan and set aside.
Making the cheesecake filling
  1. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth.
  2. Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar, then add the remaining eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until completely smooth.
Baking
  1. Pour the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate crust in the springform pan, spreading evenly with a spatula.
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center has a slight jiggle.
  3. Allow the cake to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate it for at least 4 hours before serving.
Serving
  1. Slice the cake and enjoy it either chilled or at room temperature, perhaps with a dusting of cocoa powder or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for a smooth cheesecake batter. Don't over-bake; the center should remain slightly wobbly as it will firm up during cooling. Consider adding a splash of orange zest for a citrusy note.
