Ingredients
  

Meat Mixture
  • 1 lb ground beef High-quality beef enhances flavor.
  • 1 lb ground pork Using a mix of meats adds richness.
  • 1 medium onion, diced and caramelized Caramelize onions over medium heat until golden.
  • 2 slices stale bread, soaked in milk Can use gluten-free breadcrumbs as a substitute.
  • 2 medium eggs Alternatively, use flaxseed meal mixed with water for vegan option.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
Glaze
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Caramelize the onions in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and sweet-smelling.
  3. Soak the stale bread in milk for about 5 minutes until well-saturated, then squeeze out excess milk.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, caramelized onions, soaked bread, eggs, minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
  5. Blend thoroughly with your hands, being careful not to overwork the mixture.
  6. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a loaf pan.
  7. Prepare the glaze by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce, then spread over the top of the meatloaf.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  2. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve with creamy mashed potatoes or buttery egg noodles. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days or freeze slices for up to 3 months.
