Ingredients

Meat Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef adds rich flavor—combine with pork for more moisture
  • 1 lb ground pork helps keep the meatloaf tender and juicy
Binding and Flavoring Ingredients
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs binds the mixture together while adding texture
  • 1 cup milk ensures a moist loaf
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped adds sweetness and depth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced enhances flavor complexity
  • 1 large egg helps the meatloaf hold its shape
  • Salt and pepper to taste basic seasoning is essential

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork with breadcrumbs, ensuring even distribution.
  3. In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat until translucent, about 5 minutes. Allow to cool slightly before adding to the meat mixture.
  4. Pour in the milk and crack the egg into the bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Using your hands, mix everything until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  5. Transfer the mixture into the prepared loaf pan, pressing it down gently to remove any air pockets.
Cooking
  1. Bake for approximately 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reads 160°F (70°C).
  2. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing to help the juices redistribute.

Notes

Ensure your ingredients are room temperature for better mixing and a uniform texture. Fresh herbs like parsley or thyme can be added for more flavor.
